Impressive, but watch out for that front element By K. Gittins Sometimes you just have to go to the end - in this case is really wide angle. In my old Canon film camera days, I had the 15mm fisheye 2.8, which was an even bigger piece of glass because of its speed.
Now that I've gone to the Pentax K100D, I was pleasantly surprised to see this 10-17mm lens was available. I was even happier because unlike Canon lens, the Pentax is a zoom, so that not every shot has to be the wide angle distortion you think of when you hear "fisheye". The lens is the equivalent of 26mm in 35mm format, which is a very useful focal length too.
The lens also lets you manually adjust the focus in auto focus mode - something that my two Sigma lenses warn.
The only drawback I see is the lens that you can not mount a filter and curved front element is exposed (the same for the Canon). Therefore, just use a little caution. And unlike the old canon, there is no post-filter, either. Finally, for those who like to manually adjust the aperture ring - which is not one. Everything is set through the camera :-)
